SUNGO provides a wide range of services to support its members. Details of these services are provided below.
SUNGO has a well established reputation for the training courses that it
conducts for its members. These courses
aim to build the capacity of member organisations to manage both their
organisations and the programmes they offer.
Courses which SUNGO has provided cover topics such as organisation
management, project management, governance, climate change, financial
management, counselling, report writing, computer skills, data collection and
research skills.
As well as providing courses SUNGO offers mentoring to its members on a
one to one or group basis including guidance on applying for funding. SUNGO has also developed tools to allow
organisations to assess their own capacity and has conducted such assessment on
behalf of CSSP.
SUNGO also has resources available
(policies, templates etc) useful for organisations looking to improve their

SUNGO acts as an important voice for civil society in consultations and
government committees. SUNGO hosts regular forums for its members to discuss
issues of national importance so that it can truly represent the view of its
members when advocating to government and agencies on behalf of SUNGO members.
In 2020, SUNGO coordinated 16 forums across Samoa to gain the view of
members about proposed legislation regarding land and titles.
SUNGO has previously undertaken research projects to better analyze information about civil society and the
programmes that SUNGO offers. These projects involved Human Rights Issues and CSO priorities.
